I personally recommended BMO's investment product. However, as an international student, you might not eligible to purchase some of the investment product.
I noticed that some of the short-term investment (3-5yr) can provide you a 6-10% return per year. On the other hand, return=risk. For all the investment consist a certain amount of risk. You can always walk into a bank and tell them you want to invest, and they can give you more detail about what type of investment or saving that you can do.
