(CNN) -- The mastermind of the worst terrorist attack on American soil is dead, U.S. President Barack Obama announced late Sunday night, almost 10 years after the attacks that killed almost 3,000 people.Osama bin Laden -- the longtime leader of al Qaeda -- was killed by U.S. forces in a mansion outside the Pakistani capital of Islamabad along with other family members, a senior U.S. official told CNN.
In an address to the nation late Sunday night, Obama called bin Laden's death "the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat al Qaeda."

"Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan," Obama said. 美国思想家，散文作家和诗人Ralph Waldo Emerson（1808-1882）说的好：

"Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding."

这句名言想必布什和本拉登都知道，所以他们两人当年在下令屠杀无辜时都不是为了和平。近十年了，一个被追缴杀死，另一个则无人追究。但愿有上苍知公理何在。。。

注：上苍很有可能只存在于人们的愿望里。
