It may take some time (a few months to a few years), but yes, the housing price will cool down and drop.

Forgot to mention, if you have a VRM that is at "prime minus" rate, then no need to switch/lock in now , as it will take a while for prime rate to increase to the point (say to over 6) that makes sense.
