having transformed& \7 `2 v3 j5 {$ X+ M/ u: j
sunshine and soil and water and seed,
/ q) K# H. P0 q% m: Uinto food upon which we are soon to feed,
S. e1 V8 E9 c& {we thank you for life and we want to stay well,
4 F S0 D3 ]9 T1 Q; J! d: l& Sso we promise to rub our hands with Purell.
@# H8 _$ o: _* R6 t7 P' WWe who came first and are ready to dine
# Z) R% H6 ^& ?. U, D @" Z$ s/ cthank you that we’re not still waiting in line,
' D3 j6 n1 n W3 L, mbut for those who are hungry and eagerly wait,
6 J, T& Y9 m+ t# Pwe shall not be greedy and heap up our plate.6 s' |% E- m8 [' u% X: g- i
Instead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others
% w ~/ | W+ Q5 H! Wthe way we were taught by our own loving mothers.

We smell the potatoes all spicy and roasted
" y7 W4 |/ L$ othe aroma of casseroles perfectly toasted , c! N$ }6 v5 x2 k5 }( p* p, ^, ~& G- i3 ^
